Reality Chick’s Friday Round-Up #3

Reality Chick's Friday Round-Up

Yay, Friday. Happy weekend reading, peeps.

Today, I had the immense pleasure of meeting one of my favourite authors Cheryl Strayed, at the Sydney Writer’s Festival. If you haven’t read Wild and Tiny Beautiful Things yet, do so immediately.

We may wish it weren’t so, but it’s an undeniable truth that women’s fertility is controlled not just by them, but by the men they meet, from The Guardian.

Another author I love, Kaz Cooke – who we interviewed here on RC – is at The Hoopla writing about all the weird questions people have asked her. I know where you’re coming from, Kaz.

Apparently Yahoo’s purchase of Tumblr could mean an end to the Tumbler porn sites. Salon’s Tracy Clark Flory looks at what there is to lose.

Research finds that same-sex unions are happier than hetero ones. In The Atlantic, The Gay Guide to Wedded Bliss.

What does cheating really cost? That’s a chapter in another book I’m  reading at the moment called Dollars and Sex: An Economist Puts A Price on Sex and Love, by Dr Marina Ashade.

I tweeted about this one, My Open Relationship Went Awry, on Salon.com. I say, don’t jump into an open relationship when you’re raw from a break-up. But isn’t that just Dating 101?

From The Telegraph, Dr Brooke Magnanti explores an issue many women face: Can popping a pill like Lybrido ever fix female sexual desire?

From The Good Men Project: If You Think Your Marriage Is Over, Give it One More Year. Good advice with one caveat from me: give it one more year unless of course, there’s abuse or other unacceptable crap going on.

She’s pregnant AND she has cancer. Illustrator Matilda Tristram decided on a novel way to let people know how’s she’s going: a cancer comic. At the Guardian.

Do you act differently towards your partner after dreaming you were bonking your ex? A study finds that Dreams May Affect Our Relationship Behaviours, from DatingAdvice.com.

And, a little something I did for the 12WBT – How weight loss can boost your love life. Seriously, if you’re seeking better orgasms – or orgasms at all – the treadmill should be your best friend.

And to be filed in the ‘Dang, I wish I’d thought of that’ box, I also really dig this Love Hurts kit, which some of you may have spotted on RC’s Pinterest and FB pages.

If you missed this on Upworthy, it’s a great Neil Gaiman video on what to do when shit happens. As it does.

Have a great weekend everyone, and if you spot something you think might be good for the Friday Round-Up,  please do drop me a line with the link!
